TROOP 1 ACTIVITY PLANS AND PERMISSION FORM [Parents keep this part] WHAT: SNOW CAMPING
TRIP
WHEN:
Sat-Sun, Mar 17-18,
2007 HOW: Troop assembles at Church parking lot at 8:00 AM, Saturday. Departure time planned for 8:30 AM. We will be staying in the Gym and one or more cabins at Camp Como – one room in the gym and the Cabins hold 16 folks. We will have access to the Lillie Building (gym) to play basketball and other indoor sports. Bathrooms, showers and a small kitchen (stove, refrigerator, microwave) are also in the gym. Scouts should be able to go sledding, tubing, and snow-shoeing – all equipment (less tubes) is to be furnished by the Scouts. Additionally, we will have access to the indoor climbing wall – with certified Camp Como Instructor - for approximately 4 hours on Saturday afternoon. For those Scouts that would like to sleep outside and try for a subzero patch, the nightly lows normally are between –5 to +5 degrees. Troop will depart Camp Como at noon on Sunday and arrive back at the Church parking lot between 2:00 and 2:30 PM. Route to Camp Como: from Colorado Springs, west on US Hwy 24 to Hartsel; after Hartsel, northwest on CO Hwy 9 to Fairplay; north on US Hwy 285 towards Denver. Turn left onto CR 33 towards Como. Follow signs to Camp Como / Colorado Christian Service Camp. COST: The total cost for the Troop is $925.00 for the use of the Lillie Building, three cabins, Kitchen, climbing wall, tubing hill and all other Camp Como facilities. Therefore, the cost will be prorated among those who attend. A $20.00 Non-Refundable Reservation Fee along with the permission slip is due by Monday, 27 Feb. If we have a total of 40 Scouts and Adults attend Camp Como, the Camp Como cost will be approximately $23.00 per attendee (less food). We will be cooking our own meals (Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast) in the kitchen in the Gym. We anticipate the food fee will be approximately $7.00 to $10.00 per person. Each person is responsible for their own snowshoes and sleds (buy, borrow, or rent) – tubes are provided by Camp Como. Helmets are required for the tubing hill. MEALS:Meals will be prepared
by attendees – we will cook as a Troop. Saturday; Breakfast – at
Home; Lunch - Soup and Sandwiches, Dinner (Spaghetti) and Sunday
breakfast; Pancakes/French Toast at Camp Como. Sunday - lunch will
be at home.
