Scoutmaster Minute: As you may have gleaned from my earlier e-mail this morning, we had a fun and successful Camporee. I again would like to extend a special thanks to all the adults who helped make it all possible and to all the scouts for who very little is seemingly impossible. I was impressed with all the scouts on this campout. Hopefully we can get some more camping in before the snow piles up higher than our Gator Patrol.

Scoutmaster Minute: Looking back I would say that we have had a successful summer. It was busy to say the least, and we accomplished a lot individually and as a troop. As we now shift into school mode I hope we can build on our success and have an equally successful fall season. I know that there will be conflicts with sports and school activities but it is important to maintain a healthy and balanced interest in scouting. We will try to keep it fun and productive. If you have any ideas to that end please let me know.

Scoutmaster Minute: I thought that the ‘ice cream making’ activity was a lot of fun although it did run a little late. We did not get a lot of work done last Monday but hey, sometimes it is OK to have fun and make a mess…well maybe not so OK on the mess. Thanks to Steve and Jacob Gonzales, Amber and Galen Atkinson, Bill & Zac Clark, Tom and Kirwan Bonifas, Max Langer, and (my apologies to anyone I missed) the other adults and scouts who stayed even later to help clean up. I would also like to apologize to Carol Beckman who showed up to do the Hiking Merit badge but was pre-empted by ICE CREAM MANIA! I hope you guys will take advantage of the class she is offering tomorrow night as she is a wealth of information. One last note, I would like to do the ice cream night again in the near future (while it is still hot out). I now know what the logistical issues are and have ideas to expedite the whole process next time…plus I get to sample some pretty tasty ice cream! V/R ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ July 23, 2008 Hi Everyone,
The results are in!!! Eleven scouts (11) and Five (5) adults
participated in this year's Golf event. We had a great event.
Troop 1 scouts participating this year were:
Eric Dude, Cameron Hickert, Jack Karber, Michael Taloumis, Nick
Lacayo, Derek Beitle, Max Langer, Alex LaJoie, Joey Ortiz, Ryan Tamas
Ryan Russell a Life Scout from Troop 110 was extended an invitation
to participate. He saw our photo in the Cheyenne Edition last
year and wanted to come out this year. Ryan is a great scout
and he had a great time with all of you. The invitation will
be extended to more scouts in other Troops next year.
Scouts earning the Merit badge for the first time were: Jack
Karber, Nick Lacayo, Derek Beitle, Max Langer, Joey Ortiz, Ryan Tamas
and Ryan Russell
The event is always a success but the parents who helped with the
scouts always make the event even better. A special thanks to
Ron Beitle, Dale Langer, Bob Tamas, and Mrs. Lacayo. Dale Langer
deserves an extra pat on the back as he helped the scouts complete
their worksheets in the clubhouse. Thanks Dale. Thank you
to all adults who carpooled and brought scouts to the events. Scouts
are special but so are the parents!!! Thanks again.
![]() This is the first year that the scouts beat the adults.
Michael Taloumis had a low round of 31 on
a par 27.
The lowest the adults could muster was a 35 by Bob Tamas, Lou Taloumis
and Ron Beitle. An off day for the adults for sure.
Other scores for the scouts were:
Cameron Hickert 36 (new low score)
Eric Dude 39 (new
low score)
Ryan Russell 41
Derek Beitle 43
Ryan Tamas 43
Nick Lacayo 45
Max Langer 45
Alex LaJoie 45
Jack Karber 45
Joey Ortiz 49
It's great to see scouts improve. Just ask Eric and Cameron. Keep
practicing and come back next year.
I have attached a photo of the group. I'll send one to the
Cheyenne Edition, too.
Thanks for another great event. I'll do it again next year. The
event is never a success without all of your help and participation.

Scoutmaster Minute: This past Thursday, 17July, Troop 1 volunteers logged another 52 service hours at the Marian House Soup Kitchen. This is the second week in a row for Troop 1 at the soup kitchen. This one was a patrol activity for the Shark Patrol, so they get credit for service hours and a patrol activity with one toss of the stone. I also would like to point out this is the second week in a row for Burton Crosby to help out at the soup kitchen. Burton is a Troop 1 Eagle Scout and is doing a fine job of demonstrating that community service does not stop once achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Congratulations to all and ‘Thank You’ for your service to the community.
